Hygiene standard of FoS cafeteria:
FoS has done an inspection involving officers from the Vice Dean (Development) department, a lecturer and 2 faculty representatives in March. Advices has been given to the premise operator.

For your information, FoS rep have also been sent emails to Pn Sharizat Ahmad, Head of Food Security and Hygiene department at Jabatan Kesihatan Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (JKWP KL) concerning this matter. She responded that JKWP KL has just taken over this responsibility of premise inspection and grading from Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) since April 2010. They are currently organizing, arranging and scheduling inspection to all places under their coverage, which are divided according to zones and time range.
JKWP KL do not do premise inspection by request. UM will be inspected as arranged in their schedule. However, she cannot disclose the time of inspection due to the fact that inspections are done in a 'spotcheck' manner.
She has also mentioned that every food premise needs to register and fulfil certain criteria under the Food Hygiene Regulation 2009, before running their business. Actions can be taken against those who do not do so.
Printing service:
A meeting was held in March with the Prof Kurunathan, Vice Dean (Development) concerning appropriate matters. One of it was the printing service in FoS. Prof Kurunathan has explained that FoS currently do not officially provide printing service to students. Procedure for payment for printing service is troublesome due to insufficient staff and job division. However, a survey is needed to check on the necessity and demand to open a printing service in FoS.
